Born and raised in Russellville, AR, I graduated from Russellville High before choosing to attend Arkansas Tech University. At Tech, I became heavily involved in the Debate and Forensics teams and developed a passion for speech. I graduated from Tech in 2012.
In Spring of 2022, our school board voted in favor of starting a volleyball program, and I was lucky enough to be hired to help pioneer the program as the Senior High Head Coach. With the new job title, came a reduction in classload, leaving me teaching Oral Communication and coaching volleyball in grades 7-12.
Before working at Lamar, I was a Territory Sales Manager for US Foods. We sold food to restaurants, schools, hospitals, anywhere that buys food in bulk. The hours were crazy and the stress was more than I was willing to live with. I accepted the job straight out of college after a rough student teaching experience, but I quickly learned my heart wasn’t in it.
In January 2014. On a leap of faith, I quit that job and picked up a long-term sub position at Lamar as an aide in the resource classroom in hopes that it would open a door the following year. Luckily, it worked in my favor. In August 2014, I started as the Oral Communication and Drama teacher. After one year, the district traded drama for debate and forensics allowing me to teach the material I fell in love with in college, that helped boost my confidence and taught me many important life skills. I’m excited to be able to do the same for my students!
In 2018, I took on the challenge of managing the disrict-wide yearbook by teaching the Journalism course. It was a beast, but I loved the creative challenge.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two beautiful children together. We have a goofy boston terrier named “Lovey” by my then 5 year old, who “never gets to name anything, not even my sister.”
I love sunshine and hot summers, as being outside in the water somewhere with my family is one of my favorite ways to spend free time.
